Trip to Las Vegas JANET Terminal (April 8-10, 2004)
by Eric Bargemann

I arrived in Las Vegas on the evening on April 8, went to a Blue Man Show, visited hotels, etc. Same on April 9. But now to the good part: my trip to the JANET Terminal at McCarran Airport.

So here I was, driving up to the terminal on Hacienda St. I could see to the right of me the parking lot at which the Area 51 workers park their cars. As I went down a little farther, I could see a few JANETs. My dad took one picture in the car, but I knew that it wouldn't be good enough. So I got out of the car in my bright orange phoenix suns jersey and took a picture right on the fence so that the plane was between the chains.

After I took a few pictures there, I headed towards the gate of the parking lot. My dad, who wanted to take a picture of the gate, the lot, and the planes in the background, got out and started zooming in to get the best shot. Then, just as he was about to take the picture, I said, "Hey! Something moved in there!" Since I thought there was no security on weekends and I was there on a saturday, I had no clue that a guard was watching me and my dad. The guard came out of his post just as my dad took the picture, as you can see. He made a stern, angry look at us and made a signal with his hands as if meaning "GET OUT OF HERE NOW!" My dad, struck with shock, stood there for a minute just gazing at the guard. Then he quickly got in and we drove off.

So, as you can see, there are a few good and bad things about this experience:

Good Thing: I got many awesome pictures of JANETS, the lot, and the terminal.
Bad Thing: I didn't get a picture of the guard looking at us. (hehe)
